The Namir People

The homeless community in Namir’s tent city on Namir Road in Tel Aviv is comprised of approximately seventy people between the ages of 25-60. They reached this place since the social justice movement in 2011 and following an economic collapse or their inability to pay their rent .
The living conditions in this tent city are difficult, and the residents face the daily threat of the municipal inspectors evacuating them from the place.
Those portraits were taken between November 2013 to June 2014.
During this period I visited the place several times a week, getting to know the characters and helping them if necessary together with a number of social activists. The portraits are part of a larger documenting project i did there in which i chose to separate the Portraits from the place background giving them prominence.
